North Salem, New York – September 10, 2026 – Thursday’s competition at Old Salem Farm commenced with the morning’s $32,000 Two-Phase CSI 4*, presented by Old Salem Farm, which saw 34 entries representing six nations tackle Alan Wade’s winding 15-effort, 1.45m track. Following her top performances on Wednesday, Samantha Schaefer (USA) continued her winning ways and raced ahead of her fellow competitors in 26.29 seconds aboard James Bond HX.

With the beautiful backdrop of Westchester County’s surrounding horse country, the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows feature world-class competition on par with what everyone has come to expect from Old Salem Farm. The 2026 Shows host a CSI 4* & 2*, September 8-13, and a CSI 2*, September 15-20, with both weeks rated USEF ‘National’ for hunters. Additionally, Old Salem’s September schedule will include the ASPCA Maclay Region II Championship on Saturday, September 12; the Hollow Brook Horsepower Car Show on Sunday, September 13; and a USEF National/Level 2 event, September 24-27, featuring the $10,000 Old Salem Farm Jumper Classic.

Schaefer and Bonne Chance’s 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding set an early time to beat in Thursday’s $32,000 FEI 4* Two-Phase, stopping the clock in 26.29 seconds, which ultimately proved uncatchable.

Fellow American Brian Moggre (USA) was the closest with Johann FS Z, the 8-year-old Zangersheide gelding owned by Major Wager with whom he won the $65,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix CSI 2* in August; the pair earned second place for their 26.62-second score.

“We went early in the class today, and the goal is to jump in the qualifier tomorrow,” Schaefer said. “So I tried to make a plan that suited him well enough to be competitive without going too crazy. At the end of the course, I did a very fast seven strides back to the second-to-last vertical, and I think that probably made the difference. I wouldn’t say he is the quickest horse, but he’s really learned to be quite handy and make up time in the turns. I’ve had him now for four years, so we also have a pretty good partnership.”

Ireland’s Philip McGuane (IRL) rounded out the podium with his 27.25-second time aboard Donvier, Evergate Stables’s 14-year-old BE/SIES gelding.
