North Salem, United States – August 22, 2026 – The Old Salem Farm Summer Jumper Classic CSI 2*  concluded on Saturday with the $65,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix CSI 2* and multiple Junior/Amateur and Open jumper divisions. Of the 33 entries representing nine countries in the Grand Prix, it was Brian Moggre (USA) who raced to the top of the leaderboard, tripping the timers in 36.32 seconds aboard Johann FS Z.

With the beautiful backdrop of Westchester County’s surrounding horse country, Old Salem Farm hosts a year-round schedule of world-class equestrian competition. The Old Salem Farm Summer Jumper Classic CSI 2*  took place August 19-22, just a few weeks before the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows, which feature FEI CSI 4* / 2* (September 8-13) and CSI 2* (September 15-20) events. 

Old Salem Farm course designer Oscar Soberon presented Saturday’s Grand Prix field with a technical 16-effort, 1.45m course to close the week’s FEI competition. Among the first to return over the shortened jump-off track, Moggre and Major Wager’s 8-year-old Zangersheide gelding set an early time to beat, crossing the finish line on a 36.32-second score that proved uncatchable as the class went on.

Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) and her 18-year-old Holsteiner gelding Cornwall BH, who finished second in Thursday’s $32,000 Old Salem Farm Classic CSI 2*, came the closest to Moggre’s time, stopping the clock in 36.55 seconds for another second-place finish.

Ireland’s David Blake (IRL) earned third for his 37.16-second time aboard Max Van De Marijenhoeve, Jill Shulman’s 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding. 

“We call him John in the barn,” Moggre said. “I have been developing him since the end of his 6-year-old year. At the beginning, we had a lot to figure out about each other. He’s got a lot of character, is super sensitive, but is so smart and so athletic. About halfway through his 7-year-old year, I really thought, ‘This horse could be something.’ Ever since then, he’s continued to step up to the plate for everything we’ve asked him. We jumped our first 3* grand prix in Michigan, and he was super there. Every time I ask him to do something that he hasn’t done before, he’s right there with me, and he has the most amazing personality.

“We went early in the order today, and there were a lot of clear rounds,” he continued. “I thought it was a nice course; the first round was just technical enough without feeling huge. Since this horse is only 8 years old, I went in with a plan focusing on what I was willing to do and what was right for him. Maybe in a year’s time, we could do one less stride in the first and the last lines. Given his age and how he’s so naturally quick, it actually worked out for us today. I was super grateful for the win, but even if we were second or third, I wouldn’t have changed my ride. It was just right for him and where he’s at now. We’re going to keep him around the 1.45m to 1.50m, move him into some more 3* grand prix, and get him really solid there before we see what else we have. There’s no telling just how much he can do, and I’m excited to find out.”
