Jacob Pope & Jecibelle Claim the Throne in the $116,500 Dexter Grand Prix CSI 3*

Traverse City, United States โ€“ August 01, 2026 โ€“ Jacob Pope (USA) had been waiting on the special moment that he would score a grand prix victory with his mount Jecibelle, and that day came on Saturday of week five of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by B&D Builders, in the $116,500 The Dexter Grand Prix CSI 3*. The pair posted a blazing-fast jump-off time, unseating already quite competitive pairs, and claimed their first international victory together.

โ€œItโ€™s a huge win any time to win a grand prix and Iโ€™m so happy to have done it with Jecibelle,โ€ Pope reflected after the win. โ€œIโ€™ve had her just a year and I feel like our partnership is just really starting to come together in a really great way. The win today has been the culmination of a lot of hard work with a nice horse, getting to know her and letting her shine the way that she wants to. Iโ€™m so happy with her.โ€

The jump-off welcomed six competitors. While it wasnโ€™t the largest field, it produced an extremely fast battle for the top spot. Prior to Popeโ€™s turn, Erynn Ballard (CAN), who had already pocketed two FEI wins for the week and was seeking a third, posted a new leading time, just to be outdone immediately by Hunter Holloway (USA). Both of their times were fast, and they were separated by a very slim margin.

โ€œI was actually down at the gate already when Hunter was in the ring and sheโ€™s always a fast rider,โ€ Pope shared. โ€œI really admire how she rides so I was definitely watching how she rode all the turns. I tried to do the same thing and I just barely nipped her. Iโ€™m happy for her and excited we were one-two.โ€

Pope believed Jecibelle, an 11-year-old Belgian Sport Horse mare (Boyfriend du Seigneur x Ogano Sitte) had the speed required to go faster, but he didnโ€™t want to interfere with her confidence.

Pope spends quite a bit of his year in Traverse City, so it is essentially home for him. To win at home is tremendously special, but itโ€™s even more special knowing the caliber of horse and rider he was able to beat.

Pope and Jecibelleโ€™s breakthrough international victory capped a thrilling jump-off and closed another memorable week of FEI competition at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

โ€œItโ€™s been a couple years since I won an FEI class here so it means a lot,โ€ he reflected. โ€œSherri [Crawford], who owns Jecibelle, has been a huge supporter of mine so for her horse to win is really exciting for both of us. We got the horse from Katie and Henri so itโ€™s a team effort. It means a lot for us to have won here.โ€
