Tanner Korotkin Thrives in the $32,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake CSI 3*

Mill Spring, North Carolina โ€“ October 09, 2025 โ€“ An international podium took over Tryon Stadium after the conclusion of Thursdayโ€™s $32,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake CSI 3*. The top spot was awarded to Tanner Korotkin (USA) who piloted Cardozo 4 (Colestus x Falkenhofโ€™s Lancer) to the win.

The 2013 Westfalian gelding owned by Todd Minikus, LTD, โ€œjumped his guts outโ€ for the win against fifty-two trips. The Anthony dโ€™Ambrosio (USA) designed course proved difficult, with only five riders going clear in the first round. Winning rider Tanner Korotkin stated, โ€œI thought the track was definitely tough, especially with one down and a time fault with my main horse [Kinmar Quality Hero].โ€

The 2012 Danish Warmblood stallion Wannabe CS (Warrant x Pythagoras), owned by Brooke Peterson and ridden by Peter Petschenig (AUT), received reserve honors.

Luis Sabino Gonรงalves (POR) rode the Sigma Stables, mount Scoop de Septon Z (Hunters Scendro x Echo Van T Spieveld), the 2014 Zangersheide mare, to third place.ย

Just coming off a Grand Prix win in Wellington, Korotkin was pleased with his mountโ€™s performance on Thursday. โ€œCardozo โ€“ heโ€™s a phenomenal horse!โ€ The fastest double clear round began with a plan, he shared. โ€œI was fortunate enough to go fourth out of the five of us.  Seeing the other guys go, I thought my horse was naturally quicker than some of theirs โ€“ so Iโ€™m just going to be smart here, do the numbers I have to do, and then really gallop up to the last jump!โ€

Tryon International holds happy memories for Korotkin. โ€œI jumped my first National Grand Prix here when I was a kid, and Iโ€™ve been fortunate enough to have quite a few good results here,โ€ he detailed. Competing at this venue for many years, Korotkin concluded, โ€œitโ€™s always great coming here. I think the facility is great, the staff and everybody is extremely nice and helpful. Itโ€™s a great show, and always fun coming back and competing here!โ€

Fans can see Tanner Korotkin ride under the lights during Saturdayโ€™s Skyla Credit Union $120,000 Grand Prix CSI 3* with his mount Kinmar Quality Hero.
