Elisa Broz & Tinkerbell are Magical in the $30,000 Marshall & Sterling Open Classic

Thermal, Californiak USA – November 10, 2024 – A field of 42 entries took on Sunday’s $30,000 Marshall & Sterling 1.40m Open Classic, but none of them could catch Tinkerbell as she flew over the course with Elisa Broz (USA) in the irons. The pair stopped the jump-off clock in 38.564 seconds to take home the win on the final day of National Sunshine Series 2.

“She’s so special,” said Broz of the 14-year-old Warmblood mare, owned by Hidalgo LLC. “She’s such an incredible horse. She tries so hard every time she goes in the ring. You can just tell that no matter what class it is, she’s always going to try. It’s so special as a rider to have a horse like that who wants to win just as badly as you do.”

On their way to Sunday’s win, Broz and Tinkerbell were one of nine entries to produce a clear first-round effort over the Colm Quinn designed course. When it came time for Broz’s jump-off ride, no one had yet produced a double clear effort – but Broz and Tinkerbell made it look easy. They stopped the clock in a clear 38.564 seconds to take the win.

From there, the double clear efforts did continue to come, with Kaitlin Campbell (USA) and Chanbette finishing in second place with a clear time of 39.509 seconds.

Third place on a time of 40.678 seconds went to Cassio Rivetti (BRA) and Chagall de Toscane.

I think that the track was really good,” said Broz. “I thought that it really complemented the riders that were in the class. You know, it was a big class with some good riders. I think in the jump-off, I was really able to keep moving, and she’s careful and quick. I just kind of let her do her thing!”
