Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta, Canada — July 06, 2024 — Alex Matz (USA), aboard Holsteiner gelding Cashew CR, couldn’t hide his delight as the pair took first place in the $62,500 AkiIta Drilling Cup Winning Round CSI 5* Saturday morning. The duo topped a starting competition of 43, and a ten-rider jump-off, to take top spot ahead of Egypt’s Nayel Nassar (EGY), the winner of Friday’s main event, the ATCO Cup CSI 5*. Nassar came second with Coronado, while Sameh El Dahan (GBR) was third atop WKD Toronto.
