Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta, Canada – July 08, 2022 – The $40,000 ATCO Cup CSI 5* started things off on the International Ring for Friday of the ‘North American’ Tournament. Over 40 competitors stepped through the iconic clock tower to take on the track designed by FEI Course Designer Peter Holmes (CAN) hoping post clear first rounds and advance to the jump off.
Twelve horse/rider combinations representing five countries made it to the jump off. Katie Laurie (AUS) on Cera Caruso (Casall x Capone) and Mario Deslauriers (CAN) on Uris de La Roque (Capital x Quick Star) were tied at the top of the leader board with a time of 44.39 seconds in the jump.
However, in the end Hilary McNerney (USA) was determined to change that aboard Astilbe (Empire x Stanford). Last to go in the jump off, McNerney pulled out all the stops to post an impressive clear round with a time of 43.92 seconds taking the win.
