Sandra Zimmerli & Las Vegas Hit the Jackpot in Turf Tour 2’s Rising Star Classic

Wellington, Florida -January 13, 2022 – The fabulous fields of Polo West welcomed horses and riders on Wednesday, January 12 to kick off the second week of 2022 Turf Tour competition. With two jumper rings set on the gorgeous polo fields just off South Shore Boulevard, the weekly USEF Level 2 series features .80M-1.40M classes, Child/Adult Jumpers, JR/AM Jumpers, and three money classes every Wednesday and Friday: $3,0001.30M Speed Stake, $5,000 1.30M Rising Star Classic, and the $15,000 1.40M Turf Tour Grand Prix. This week Sandra Zimmerli of Zimmerli Show Jumping took a gamble on a quick jump-off to clinch the win in the $5,000 1.30M Rising Star Classic.

The Wednesday highlight show began with a double clear effort from Kevin Mealiff (IRL) and A D Reed, who jumped-off in 38.942 seconds. A few rides later Ashlee Bond (ISR) and Ianesco Sitte took the lead, finishing double clear in 35.983 seconds. However she was soon overtaken by Ali Wolff (USA) and Footloose Hx (37.576), who was in turn immediately dropped to second by Las Vegas and Zimmerli (USA) (35.487). Subsequent riders failed to top this blazing time, with only Jordan Coyle (IRL) and Lisaniska Cool Quality coming close to finish in second (35.953), and the Rising Star closed with Zimmerli in the top spot.

Friday’s 8;30am start will once again offer riders the chance to enjoy a new and beautiful show venue, along with classes from the .80M-1.40M with two money classes. The $3,000 1.30M Speed Stake will run from 8:30am to approximately 11:30am, and the $15,000 1.40M Turf Tour Grand Prix will run from approximately 12pm – 4:30pm. All of the Turf Tour classes feature a show & go format, allowing riders to arrive, warm-up, and show on their own schedule including doing an immediate jump-off in the Rising Star & Grand Prix. Catering to the needs of exhibitors and especially their horses is a key focus of the Turf Tour and its vision.

The Ridge at Wellington will also host three Hunter Derby events and weekly USEF Equitation Tuesdays, where hunter and equitation riders can take advantage of all the Turf Tour has to offer.
