La Baule, France — June 13, 2026 — Mclain Ward (USA) came very close to scoring a major victory in the €110,000 Saur Prize CSIO 5* on the third day of the Jumping International de La Baule – Officiel de France CSIO 5*.

Riding High Star Hero in the second-richest individual class of the show, Ward was only overcome by Steve Guerdat (SUI). The American was among the 17 jump-off qualifiers (from a field of 67 starters), putting on a masterclass in precision and track management. His mark aboard the 2013 bay Belgian Sport Horse (SBS) gelding seemed untouchable until the last competitor.
