Izzy Beisel & Contigo Claim the $40,000 Genievieve’s National Grand Prix

Ocala, Florida, – January 26, 2025 – The $40,000 Genievieve’s National Grand Prix brought feature competition to a close during Week IV of the 2026 Winter Spectacular Show Series at World Equestrian Center – Ocala. A strong field of top horse-and-rider combinations contested the class, but it was last-to-go Izzy Beisel (USA) who piloted David Beisel’s Contigo to the win.

The closing track, designed by Olaf Petersen (GER), once again proved its technicality. Only five combinations advanced to the jump-off after a clear first round, and just two ultimately produced double-clear efforts.

Kama Godek (USA) delivered the fastest time among the four-fault efforts in the jump-off, riding her own 12-year-old Oldenburg mare Conny 409 (Conthargos x Cassandra). The pair stopped the clock in a speedy 37.051 seconds, but one rail down ultimately kept them out of the top spot.

**Dorothy Douglas** (USA) & **MTM Pablo**

Dorothy Douglas (USA) followed with an efficient effort aboard Davenport Farms’ 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding MTM Pablo (Perigueux x Celina). Douglas navigated a tidy track to post the first clear jump-off round in 39.283 seconds, taking over the lead.

Anchoring the class, Beisel entered the ring with a clear plan aboard Contigo. “The plan was kind of up in the air until Dorrie went,” said Beisel. “I watched her round and tried to do what she did. I told myself going in that I could do one of two things. I could go fast, have a rail down, and be second. Or I could go fast, be clear, and win it. So I just threw caution to the wind and went for it.”

The strategy paid off, as Beisel and Contigo crossed the timers fault-free in a winning time of 36.116 seconds.

The victory carried special meaning for Beisel, who has developed a long-standing partnership with the 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood (KWPN) gelding. “My dad got him when he was really young, maybe four,” she shared. “When I started riding him, we didn’t really know what we wanted to do. We tried the hunters because he’s so pretty, we tried the equitation, and then finally I said, ‘Alright, we need to pick one thing.’ My dad suggested we try the jumpers, and I’m so glad we did because he loves it.”

She continued, “He’s so much fun. At home, he messes around and jumps with a neck rope and no bridle. He’s the coolest horse I’ve ever met. When my dad first got him, I was still on ponies and never thought I’d get the opportunity to ride him. He really is my pride and joy.”

A frequent competitor at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington, Beisel also shared her appreciation for both WEC venues. “We love Wilmington because it’s so close to home. We get to sleep in our own beds, and not a lot of people get that,” she said. “Both venues are just so nice and so clean. The jumps are always decorated so well, everything is well managed, and it really feels like the best horse show venues you could go to.”
