Luke Rinehart Goes Off for the One-Two in the $30,000 Grand Prix of Wilmington

Wilmington, Ohio – March 08, 2025 – A group of rising stars took to the Standlee Sanctuary at World Equestrian Center – Wilmington (WEC) Saturday evening of Winter Spring Forward for the $30,000 Grand Prix. Michael Pegg (CAN) crafted a track that only Luke Rinehart (USA) managed to master with his two mounts, The Diamant Rose Z and Captain America 10, to earn a one-two finish.

Alongside him was his barn mate, Graham Morgan, and sister, Lizzie Rinehart, both jumping their first grand prix, “It was so much fun doing it with them. There was definitely some in-house competition! We had a great time, and everyone was in good spirits about it,” Rinehart laughed.

Rinehart claimed his first grand prix win in Wilmington with Captain America 10 during Midwest Indoors II and was thrilled to find a one-two finish today, “I feel pretty amazing. It is my first time getting first and second and only my second grand prix win. My dad has been showing Diamant a lot so that has helped me transition with her.”

Not only was he the winner on his 14-year-old Zangersheide mare, The Diamant Rose Z, but also the pathfinder, laying down the first clear effort.

Captain America 10, the 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding, was the second to post a fault free round for the red ribbon.

“I felt confident just coming off showing in Florida. The track felt really good, and it rode smoothly for me. There were some technical questions, and I think it made a good class,” shared Rinehart. “We are here for one more week. Our jumpers are gearing up for Devon. That is our next big task. Short term, hopefully I can do the same thing next week.”

Claire Austin (USA) & K T Miel

Clarie Austin (USA), also stepping up to her first grand prix, rounded out the top three as the fastest four faulter aboard her own 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, K T Miel (Epleaser Van T Heike x Violet P).
