Mia Bagnato’s Marvelous Performance Tops the Hampton Inn Speed Challenge at the Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, New York, USA – July 04, 2024 – Mia Bagnato (USA) rode Florida N to victory in the Hampton Inn 1.40m Speed Challenge, Thursday’s featured class at the I Love New York Horse Show, the second week of the 55th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), Sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC, and Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC. Featuring a full, two-week schedule with more than $540,000 in prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows continue through Sunday at the North Elba Showgrounds.

Located in the historic Olympic town of Lake Placid, NY, the annual LPHS offer two weeks of exciting equestrian competition in a setting no other horse show can match, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Adirondack Mountains and the chance to enjoy countless activities that help make the Lake Placid Horse Shows, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer!” LPHS hosts competitions for riders of all levels and ages ranging from young children on polished ponies, to glistening hunters, to Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts.

In the Hampton Inn 1.40m Speed Challenge, Bagnato was one of two entries to ride clean over the one-round course designed by Nick Granat. She rode Florida N to a time of 66.088 seconds to claim the win over Wednesday’s winning combination, Laura Chapot (USA) and Ginola, who finished clean in 66.336 seconds. Bagnato also placed fifth with a four-fault ride on Cordiamo.

Each show day, LPHS action starts at 8:00 a.m., with classes running simultaneously in four spectacular show rings – the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field, the E.R. Mische Jumper Ring, the Main Hunter Ring, and the Hunter Ring. The I Love New York Horse Show is highlighted by the $75,000 Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix on Sunday, July 7 at 1:30 p.m. Prior to the Grand Prix is the highly popular Doggie Costume Contest Sponsored by Man and Beast. All dogs in town are invited to participate and those with dogs in costume, on a leash, are admitted to the horse show free of charge. There is no entry fee for the Doggie Costume Contest and all participants receive free treats.

A USEF Heritage Competition, the LPHS shows feature USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Northeast events, Green Hunter Incentive classes, hunter and jumper classics, and divisions for Young Jumpers. 0.65m Itty-Bitty Jumpers and 0.85m Junior/Amateur Jumpers. Additionally, LPHS offers classes that are part of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series and North American League (NAL).
