Laura Chapot Sweeps Wednesday Feature Classes at the I Love New York Horse Show in Lake Placid

Lake Placid, New York, USA – July 03, 2024 – Laura Chapot (USA) swept both of Wednesday’s feature classes as the Week 2 jumper classes got underway at the 55th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), Sponsored by Bainbridge Farms and Presented by Sea Shore Stables . Featuring a full, two-week schedule with more than $540,000 in prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows continue through Sunday at the North Elba Showgrounds.

Located in the historic Olympic town of Lake Placid, New York, the annual LPHS offer two weeks of exciting equestrian competition in a setting no other horse show can match, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Adirondack Mountains and the chance to enjoy countless activities that help make the Lake Placid Horse Shows, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer!” LPHS hosts competitions for riders of all levels and ages ranging from young children on polished ponies, to glistening hunters, to Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts.

In Wednesday’s 1.40m Jump-off, Chapot was one of two entries to qualify for the jump-off, and she earned the win on Ginola by going clean in the tiebreaker in 30.585 seconds. Corinne Sweeney (USA) placed second with a clean jump-off ride in 35.163 seconds on Calgary 5, the mount she rode to victory in Sunday’s Great American Insurance Group 1.45m Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic.

Chapot followed her 1.40m win with a win in the 1.30m Speed Class on Gideon. Chapot topped a field of 24 horses with the fastest ride over the one-round course designed by Nick Granat.

Each show day, LPHS action starts at 8:00 a.m., with classes running simultaneously in four spectacular show rings – the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field, the E.R. Mische Jumper Ring, the Main Hunter Ring, and the Hunter Ring. The I Love New York Horse Show is highlighted by the $75,000 Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix on Sunday, July 7 at 1:30 p.m. Prior to the Grand Prix is the highly popular Doggie Costume Contest Sponsored by Man and Beast. All dogs in town are invited to participate and those with dogs in costume, on a leash, are admitted to the horse show free of charge. There is no entry fee for the Doggie Costume Contest and all participants receive free treats.

A USEF Heritage Competition, the LPHS shows feature USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Northeast events, Green Hunter Incentive classes, hunter and jumper classics, and divisions for Young Jumpers. 0.65m Itty-Bitty Jumpers and 0.85m Junior/Amateur Jumpers. Additionally, LPHS offers classes that are part of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series and North American League (NAL).
