Lake Placid, New York, USA – June 30, 2023 – Jimmy Torano (USA) rode Chewbacca HCC to the win in the Adirondack Jumper Classic on Friday at the 2023 Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC and presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC.
Awarding more than $600,000 in prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows run June 27-July 9, highlighted by the $75,000 Great American Insurance Group Grand Prix Presented by Alliant Private Client on Sunday, July 2; the $75,000 Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Presented by Kadley Farms on Saturday, July 8; and the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Regional Championship North presented by Eastern Hay and Grain and Purina Animal Nutrition on Sunday, July 9.
In Friday’s featured event, only three of 36 entries managed clean rides over the 16-effort first-round course designed by Nick Granat (CAN). Luke Jensen (USA) was the first to return for the eight-jump tiebreaker, and he totaled 12 penalty-points on Valdes Z.
Torano rode next, turning in a clean round in 36.775 seconds to move into the lead.
Jordan Coyle (IRL) was last to go on Centriko Volo, and his eight-fault ride left him in second behind Torano.

“Today’s course was tough, but I’ve got a horse with a lot of experience and a lot of scope and the jumps were easy for him,” Torano said. “In the jump-off, Luke had some down, so I didn’t go crazy. I tried to go just fast enough to put some pressure on Jordan, and fortunately it worked out.”
